Ukraine refugee kids choir deliver superb Coldplay cover
After finding refuge in Germany, a group of exceptionally talented children from Ukraine set out to do something extraordinary.
Rallying for peace, the young singers – known as Color Music Choir – became global sensations after pouring their hearts into covering “Something Just Like This,” a hit song that talks about love, simplicity and being human.
Color Music Choir isn’t just any children’s choir. Originally based in Ukraine, this talented group of young singers is known for their impeccable harmonies and emotionally charged performances. They take popular songs and transform them into mesmerizing choral masterpieces. And when they sing, no one would ever know the heartache these youngsters – aged 4 to 18 – have experienced.
“The war has changed so much – our lives, our opportunities, and our ability to create. Over the past 2.5 years, the Color Music Choir has transformed,” the choir shares on Facebook, adding its new home is in Braunschweig, Germany.
“Today, it is a group of resilient refugee children from Ukraine who have found safety in Germany. These children are starting over, rebuilding their lives in unfamiliar surroundings.”
Color Music explains it is rebuilding what was lost in Ukraine to create “a cozy, safe space for our young singers, many of whom have endured unimaginable pain…Through music, we give them a chance to heal, grow, and dream again.”
Children of war
The kids, who “have experienced war, displacement, and loss,” wanted to use their voices to “bring hope and joy to everyone who listens.”
“They inspire us with their strength, their smiles, and their determination to move forward despite everything.”
The perfect song to spread their message of inspiration and “peace for Ukraine” was the 2017 hit song, “Something Just Like This,” by Coldplay and the Chainsmokers.
